CELEBRATING 25 YEARS TEACHING IN THE UK

In 1995, 30 years ago, I was privileged to be part of the second Zero Balancing Teacher training. Two of our teaching segments were held at a fantastic retreat center, Rio Caliente, in Mexico near Guadalajara. Those of us from the U.S. were joined by the teacher trainees from the UK and Europe, about 15 as I recall. It was like making 15 new best friends!

During that training, I shared the “Deep Massage” method that I’d developed which applied ZB principles to soft tissue work. One of the English people, Paul Cohen, was enthusiastic and invited me over to teach DM. Of course, I was thrilled! Almost every year since I’ve gone over in August and taught this work. Paul sponsored me numerous times, then Zanna Heighton, then Bristol College where I’ve been assisted for many years by the wonderful Clive Taylor.

Each class I teach is a revelation for me and, hopefully, for all my students as well. This year, for a change, I thought I would teach Zero Balancing rather than Deep Massage. Luckily, a long-time Zb’er and acupuncturist, the articulate and wonderful, Juliet Cox and I were able to co-teach, with the generous assistance of Peter Woodgate, another ZB teacher.

One of our days began with the Inner Smile meditation. This meditation, refined by Dr. Fritz Smith, ZB’s founder, used the power of the smile and breath as fulcrums, along with elements, colors, and associations drawn from meridian knowledge. This meditation is now available for free on homepage of the Zero Balancing Touch Foundation.

And thank you every student, sponsoring institutions, friends, and teaching partners in the UK. This has been a great journey. You can see from the smiles below that we cultivated not only the inner but the outer smiles as well!
